Founded in Louisville in 1921, Porter
Paints is a leading manufacturer of architectural and industrial
paints and coatings. From
its plant in downtown Louisville, Porter distributes product through a
network of over 700 distribution centers, including company-owned
stores and independent dealers across the United States.
A reputation of high quality and service
have become Porter trademarks in the residential, architectural and
industrial markets. Superior coverage, ease in application, scrub tolerance and
durability make Porter Paints an excellent value.
Wanda Beyer is in Porter’s Purchasing
Department, and she is in charge of printed products.
Wanda regards Porter’s employees who need printed materials
as her customers. It is
very important to Wanda to do a good job for her customers --- which
means getting them exactly what they need, when they need it and for
an attractive price. Wanda
chooses to partner with Vintage in order to achieve these goals.
When asked about examples of products
supplied by Vintage, Wanda replied “There are so many - letterhead,
envelopes, bills of lading, checks, all the regular items”
Then she goes on to talk about the more unusual --- like an
inventory system with variable numbering and corresponding labels.
Or like the register roll kits --- 12 register rolls, printed
with Porter’s colored logo, are packed with a register printer
ribbon and instruction sheet ---- all ready to send out to the
individual stores.
Wanda says she values the good
relationships at Vintage with Louise Krainer, her account rep, and also
with other associates who can help when Louise is unavailable, right up
to Bill Fust, the President. She
finds people at Vintage friendly, accessible and, most important,
responsive. When her
customer says, “I’m ordering it today, but I needed it
yesterday”, Wanda says Vintage gets her the information she needs
right away and processes the order as speedily as possible.
Wanda had enough confidence in
Vintage to recommend the electronic statement processing service
offered by its VFI Statement Processing division to Porter’s Credit
Department. Since the
timeliness and accuracy of monthly statements is critical to their
business, the person in charge of this department was extremely
diligent and thorough in his decision to switch to VFI.
The first month of processing, Porter and Vintage worked
together to iron out a few bugs, and everything has run smoothly ever
since. Vintage meets the
tight mailing deadlines and also has had fewer problems and issues
than the previous vendor. At
the same time, due to acquisitions, the Porter volume has increased
significantly. Wanda says
“Everyone is so pleased. The
fact that this is saving money and working so smoothly reflects well
on the Purchasing Department.”
